The Bonelli's Eagle is a bird of prey with a strong body, with broad wings and long square tail. It has gray plumage on the dorsal side with a white spot on the back, lighter ventral face and a dark spot at the tail end. Juveniles are brown and gray. It can reach 65 cm long and 165 cm wingspan.

Lives in quiet and protected areas, including coastal cliffs and steep valleys with farmland and sparsely forest areas, making it difficult to observe. Represented on the logo of Serra de S. Mamede Nature Park.
