The Cory's Shearwater is an emblematic sea bird of our coastline, it has long and arched wings, yellow beak and a greyish brown plumage which is lighter on its belly. It can grow to be 56 cm long and have 126 cm span.

Base Characterization

The Cory's Shearwater lives at high sea searching for isolated islands and islets to reproduce. It can be observed at sea from land along the Portuguese continental coast. It has a characteristic vocalization which resembles a frogs croak.

The Cory's Shearwater feeds on fish, cephalopods and crustaceans, which it obtains at high sea.

The Portuguese population of this species is estimated to be between 980 and 1070 couples.
