  • The Iberian rock lizard is a lizard with a robust body, a green or brown colouration and big black spots, while the flanks are darker and the belly is white or greenish, specially on the throat. It can measure up to 9 cm including its head and body.

  • The Iberian rock lizard lives on mountainous areas with rocky substratum, existing in high altitude meadows, heather and broom woods and juniper populations. In Portugal its restricted to Serra da Estrela's Central Plateau.

  • Spring and Summer

  • The Iberian rock lizard feeds on small invertebrates, such as flies and mosquitoes, ants, beetles, spiders and worms.

  • The Portuguese population of this species is estimated to be between 400 thousand and 700 thousand individuals.
