  • The long-snouted sea horse is a charismatic fish, both in appearance and in behaviour, being the male that takes care of the eggs, transporting them in a pouch in their abdomen until they hatch. It exhibits a brown colouration, a long snout and branch like appendices on its head. It can measure up to 26 cm long.

  • The Hippocampus guttulatus lives in zostera marine meadows or on algae, in the sub tidal zone. The rarefaction of this habitat has contributed to the decline of the sea horse population in certain areas of our country.
