The Iberian wolf is a canine with a robust silhouette, pointy muzzle, wide head, triangular ears, high limbs and long tail. It has brown thick fur, with white spots on its muzzle, belly and limbs. It's body can measure up to 1.25 m long with a 40 cm tail and it can weigh 35 kg.

Base Characterization

The Iberian wolf can exist in several habitats as long as they offer food and tranquillity. In Portugal it exists in mountainous areas, with abundant vegetable cover, and near open areas.

All year long

The Iberian wolf feeds mainly on medium sized to large mammals, such as the boar, buck, deer, and in their absence, domestic ungulates and dead animals.

The Portuguese population of this species is estimated to be between 200 and 400 individuals.
