The Schreiber's Bent-winged Bat is a bat with short and dense fur, grey to brown, while its belly is lighter and its wings are darker, and characteristic short and quadrangular ears. It's body can measure up to 5.6 cm long with a 6cm tail and it can weigh 12 g.

Base Characterization

The Schreiber's Bent-winged Bat is a cave bat, finding shelter in caves, mines and tunnels. It hunts in open or semi open spaces, including urban areas and water lines.

Spring, Summer and Autumn. However is is difficult to see because it is a rare specie with nocturnal activity.

The Schreiber's Bent-winged Bat bat feeds predominantly on nightly butterflies.

It is estimated that the Portuguese population of this species is in the tens of thousands of individuals (Source: Red Book of the Portuguese Vertebrates, 2005).
