The Eurasian Bullfinch is a plumped passerine with rounded head, short and stout beak with long tail and wings. Has black head, gray back with white spot at the base of the black tail, black wings with whitish strips, sides and bottom of the body color pink in male and beige-gray in the female. It can reach 17 cm in length.

The Eurasian bullfinch inhabits riverside bushland, marshes and less frequently pine woods and mixed woods of coniferous and hardwood trees. It is a discreet and scarce bird, in our country it only nests in Minho and Trás-os-Montes.

The Eurasian bullfinch feeds on seeds, berries, willow inflorescences. The invertebrates play an important role in the diet of its chicks.

The Portuguese population of this species is estimated to be between 1000 and 5000 couples.
