  • Least Concern

  • The great tit inhabits forest areas, and is frequent on cork and holm woods, chestnut groves, oak and pine woods, riverside bushland, olive groves and gardens. This tit has a varied repertoire throughout the year.

  • All year long

  • The great tit feeds on insects like butterflies and beetles, other invertebrates, seeds and fruits. During the mating season it hunts a very large amount of insects, and because of that the tits fill a very important role on the pest control of forest insects.

  • The Portuguese population of this species is estimated to be between 1 million and 5 million couples.
