In the heart of the most important wetland of Portugal, the Tagus estuary, is the EVOA – Espaço de Visitação e Observação de Aves (Visitation and Birdwatching Center). Here know and enjoy the unique heritage that exists between the flatlands and the Tagus estuary.

EVOA integrates 3 freshwater wetlands (lagoons with a total 70 ha), very important for birds, used as refuge area or even as breeding grounds. To ensure the tranquility of the birds and to maximize the experience and comfort in visitation, three observatories are available in the ponds, several points of camouflaged observation and an Interpretation Centre.
The Interpretation Centre welcomes the visitors and invites them to know the permanent exhibition - EVOA, where the world meets the Tagus - and to participate in various complementary activities to birdwatching.

But the experience begins as you enter the south lezíria of Vila Franca de Xira, eg the contrast between landscapes, the combination of tradition and innovation and, of course, the variety of species that feed or shelter in the ditches, farm fields and pastures of lezíria, giving a warm welcome to all who travel to this fascinating space.

Guided visit with the rhythm of the tides  - in the 1st visit to EVOA see the exhibition "EVOA, where the world meets the Tagus" (45 min) and participate in a guided birdwatching session (2h, pedestrian path about 3 Km). During the tour, expert guides can help you in birdwatching. In the end, eat something in the cafeteria and admire an amazing landscape with birds in flight and Lisbon in the background.

Nature Photography Workshop - to deepen your knowledge of nature photography, use the technical support service and follow-up with the biologist and photographer João Morgado, using the observatories including the new photographic observatory. The session may focus on basics of photography and / or equipment, on more complex concepts of photographic technique, image editing and even animal behavior. The session may be individual, but you may be with 1 or 2 friends. Choose a day (3rd to Sunday), only dependent on the photographer's availability.
