  • REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais (National Energy Networks), with support from Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas, I.P. (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forestry, IP) and Direção-Geral da Educação (Directorate-General for Education), launched “Heróis de toda a espécie” (All kinds of Heroes) to raise awareness about the protection of biodiversity, preservation of the Portuguese forest and conservation of animal and plant species threatened or endangered. Focused on children from 3rd and 4th year of basic education, seeks to form true ambassadors for this cause.

Designed to complement the school curriculum, uses an interactive and dynamic approach, promoting environmental awareness and sense of responsibility amongst the young. The program will start with the beginning of the school year (September de2015).

On the site, as well as materials for use in the classroom, they are available educational games, trivia and news. In 2015/6, the featured species are the Bonelli's Eagle, the black stork, the Iberian wolf, the cork oak, holly and arbutus.

This initiative reinforces the partnership established in 2008 between REN and the ICNF, IP, under the "Business & Biodiversity" program, lauched by Portugal as part during its EU Presidency.
