  • Herdade do Escrivão has this name because it was probably owned by the King scrivener (Escrivão). The owners belong to the Valente family, with large agricultural tradition in the region. With 600 ha, 11 km from Castelo Branco, in Malpica do Tejo parish, is inserted into the extreme of the International Tagus Nature Park and Geopark Naturtejo, being composed mostly of montado very dense. It has a herd of Charnequeira goats and a flock of cross Merino Beira Baixa sheep (both about 250 individuals) and a pig heart of the Bisaro breed.
    All the pastures of the property are in organic farming since 1998, being the 1st exploration to commercialize biological goats in Portugal.
    Dairy Monte Escrivão only works the exploitation milk. Cheese is certified in organic farming and is produced by hand, with a natural cure 45 days of raw milk. Goat Cheese Bio Herdade do Escrivão has strong aromas due to the fact that goats feed on natural pasture, with great use of the bush as eg cistus and gorse, giving a very unique aroma to the milk.
