  • Born in Aveleda, Gilberto Ferreira is the artisan blacksmith who, for more than 10 years, manufactures beautifully decorated and useful pocket knives traditional from Trás-os-Montes region, using handcrafted cutlery techniques.

Their pocket knives have a Damascus steel blade and handle in wood or in deer antlers that they drop naturally in Montesinho Nature Park. Many of the pocket knives are decorated with animals on the blade and the cables are worked. This craftsman also makes custom-made razors, with the name of the customer or the event he wishes to celebrate.

Trás-os-Montes inhabitants have always a pocket knife; they even use it as a screwdriver.
