The country house of Quinta do Vaqueirinho was built around 1925 as the residence of the surrounding field’s owners. By that time the materials used for the construction were the local ones such as rocks and primitive cement for the walls. First floor boards and beams are made of the original chestnut tree wood. Also the doors and windows shutters are the original ones made using chestnut and oak wood. In 1939 was necessary to enlarge the building, so a new kitchen with a wood oven and a haymow with stables were then built.

The house was inhabited until the 80s. Finally, in 2008 important works took place in order to adapt the building to host visitors. The priority was to improve the comfort combined with preservation of the original materials and design.
