Truly remarkable tree for it's species. It is the largest specimen of this species measured in Continental Portugal. In the Middle Ages it was considered the tree of "ill love." Poisonous tree associated with death as evidenced by the Latin names (taxus) close to the idea of poison (toxicum); was used in the manufacture of bows and arrows.
