This oak is known locally as "Chaparro dos Pobres" (Cork oak of the poor); it is said that the poor, who went to beg at Monte, seeked shelter and ate under it's shade. It is a large tree, with leafy canopy, thick trunk from which emerge 6 large branches. The tree is not well, with rotting sections.
