  • Multi-centennial chestnut tree, almost millenarian, with large diameter trunk from which thick branches emerge, some partially dried but still emitting green branches with abundant foliage. The tree cause awe to whoever contemplates its huge twisted body, full of calluses and sores, recalling the body of a giant. It is one of the oldest chestnut trees in Portugal with great cultural, aesthetic and tourist value. It is situated on a terrace between the house and the gate of Quinta do Castanheiro. The tree gave its name to the farm.
